Badass Queen #6: Monica Santos

Have you met Monica? Yet? She's hilarious and can make people laugh for days, her blog is pretty awesome and so is she. As a badass, she works nonstop to make her goals and dreams possible.

1. Name/Nickname: Monica Santos / Munkuhhhh

2. Instagram: @haveyoumetmonica //         Blog: haveyoumetmonica.com

3. Songs that bolster your self-confidence?:

I listen to my CONFIDENCE Spotify playlist. Some songs include: Never Been by Logic, Deserve Better by Kehlani, Gotta Work by Amerie,  I Don't Need a Man by The Pussycat Dolls,  Do My Thang by Miley Cyrus, and Confident by Demi Lovato.🎵

4. Who do you aspire to be?: I look up to really hard-working and confident women of color such as Oprah, Beyonce, model and body positive activist Ashley Graham, who inspire me, who motivate me to achieve my goals, and who literally show me that NOTHING is impossible. Because of these woman I look up to, I aspire to be a self-confident, hard-working bo$$ a$$ bitch who gets shit done and doesn't let anything get in her way. 💪  😎

5. Occupation:

Blogger // Youtuber // Creative Type ... (whatever that means?)

6. What motivates you when you're not inspired?:   I'm very much an extrovert so having deep talks about life with my family and friends gives me peace of mind when I'm feeling super uninspired. I like watching biography films or reading autobiographies about individuals I look up to. Reading self-help books and watching TEDtalks are super motivational for me as well.  😄

7. What empowers you as a woman to push through every day obstacles?:  It is inevitable that life is always going to be challenging, but if I take control, be assertive and persistent, keep setting goals and achieving them and manage to bust out a smile along the way… that is success in and of itself. Nothing makes me more motivated and empowered than proving everyone and anyone that ever told me that I couldn't achieve my goals.  💪

8. Advice to young girls who want to be a leader:
Be yourself. Love yourself. Things are so much easier when you don't care what others think. Never give up. Meet challenges head first. Always stand up for yourself. Don't be afraid to ask "stupid" questions. Always fight for what you believe in. Don't let your gender define you or your dreams.

"I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass." —Maya Angelou

9. What advice would you give yourself at a young age:  Even though it feels like the end of the world, it's not. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing, just do you. Work hard, be kind to people, and also remember to be kind to yourself. ❤

10. Favorite Books:
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and The Divergent Series by Veronica Roth.

11. A quote that reminds you to be amazing:
"Life is so damn short. For FUCK'S sake, just do what makes you happy." 😎
